auracull sketch — guide

what it is

sketch is a patch documentation tool for eurorack modular synthesizers. log your patches, track your rack, and keep every session retrievable.

getting started

on first launch, sketch creates a folder at documents/auracull-sketch/ on your machine. this is where everything lives — entries, exports, and your rack data. all local, no cloud, no account.

your rack

before logging patches, build your rack. go to the rack view and add a new rack. give it a name, then add your modules — name, manufacturer, and category for each.

you can have multiple racks. mark one as active. the active rack is what autocompletes module names across the whole app.

if your rack changes, update it. autocomplete stays current.

logging a patch

go to log and hit + new entry. this opens the entry view.

identity fill in what you know — title, date, duration, status, mood or intent, and an audio reference if you have a recording. add tags to make entries filterable later.
status values
sketch active archived abandoned
session notes four fields: starting point, what emerged, technical observations, continuation. fill in what's useful. nothing is required.
knob positions one row per parameter you want to document. module name autocompletes from your active rack. add as many rows as you need.
media two drop zones — one for photo, one for video. local files only. drop a file or click to browse. click the image or video to preview. use replace or clear to swap or remove.
anything else freeform text at the bottom. notes that don't fit anywhere else go here.

searching and filtering

from the log view, use the search bar to find entries by keyword. filter by tags using the tag filter. entries show id, title, date, and status at a glance.

exporting

export pdf exports the current entry as a formatted PDF with photo embedded. saved to documents/auracull-sketch/exports/
export all exports every entry as a single combined PDF.
export card generates a shareable image card from the current entry. choose format (square or vertical), style (photo or typographic), and select which fields to include. saved to documents/auracull-sketch/exports/

a note from the auracull

press ⌘⇧A (mac) or ctrl+shift+A (windows) from anywhere in the app to draw a card from the auracull deck. 74 cards, fully offline. use it when you're stuck or need a new direction. space bar draws another, enter saves to the current entry's session notes, esc dismisses.

settings

storage location change where sketch saves your data. use the folder picker to set a new location.
display adjust brightness, color hue, and intensity using the scrub fields. click and drag to adjust, type for an exact value, double-click to reset.
